    People are freaking evil
Last night was fine, until we came back to the car and found the window busted out and Andia's backpack gone. It had her purse in it, and sure enough, they drained her cards of over 1000 at Norsdstrom and Target within an hour of the crime. The neighbors even heard the window breaking and saw a black car speed off and didn't call the cops then. We called the cops multiple times and they didn't come. We went home and they finally came this morning when we called the cops again. Apparently they got there finally at 4am when we left at 11:30pm because we had been waiting 2 hours in the dark. What the hell.

My faith in humanity has taken a big hit.

    Conferenceness
I am pretty starstruck at this conference, its pretty amazing to be in a room drinking with all the big names in the field.

I stayed out way too late (2:30) last night drinking and slept through the morning seminars (whoops). At least I didn't sleep through any talks that I really wanted to hear. My boss talks tonight, it'll have some of my stuff in it. Hope it goes well. I give my poster tomorrow night.

I think i am not going to stay out late drinking anymore here unless a bunch of professors stay. (last night, a few were still there at 2:30, and pretty damn wasted, it was funny).

In music news, Disco of Doom released warpig and spawn again on beatport, check it out. Dark and evil electrohouse. I hope they release their other edits they have on their myspace page. I really like their edit of "Do it again"

    Gordon Conference
I leave tomorrow at 8 pm.

I still need to pack, get a haircut, and cut and paste my poster together at work. I can get it all done before 8 no problem, its just a lot to do. I'm gonna take andia's laptop and give her my computer from work for the week.

I'm getting nervous and excited about the whole thing, it should be fun, working all day long from 8:30 to 9 or later, and drinking at night then waking it up and doing it all over again... for a week.

    Worky
Just got home. Today my boss did one of those "Completely change this whole poster" thing. Luckly the conference isn't until friday, so I can get it tuned to something at least somewhat good. We're cramming too much stuff on it though, I don't know how to make it flow right.

Newport RI is where the conference is, I'll be there for a full week starting friday. Hopefully I'll meet all the profs in my field and get some post-doc prospects for next year. I plan on graduating either a few months before or a few months after I get married (we're aiming for memorial day weekend, more info when I get back from the conference).

    Non-productive
Why does it take me so long to make slides for a poster or talk? Gah I'm slow at this. its so hard to motivate myself. I'm leaving on friday for the conference, and this poster needs to be finished, printed, and mounted by then. Glad I'm doing it on slides, not on a large sheet.

    Ahahaha
Tonight was the wierdest drunken night I've had in a while. Man. Crazy. But it all worked out and things should be relatively ok. My sister got married yesterday, but none of that was incorporated in the craziness, thankfully.

Well, my sister is married now.
Except maybe legally, because they messed up the license at the wedding. They'll have that fixed on monday. I did a lot of work and running around, but it was awesome. So many family and friends were there, it was great :).

Wallabies are getting high and making crop circles!

Clearly the war on drugs needs to expand to wacky animals.

This might also explain crop circles in general. Its not aliens, just some animal thats really high :).

    Speaking of cute
I just watched Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit :), it was funny (its often hard to find a good G-rated movie these days). I love wallace and gromit, and I hadn't seen this move before (I've seen the 3 short ones they've already done).

How about this for a wedding reading?
I couldn't find anything quirky I liked, so I might go with this more traditional reading:

To Love is Not to Possess
    James Kavanaugh

To love is not to possess,
    To own or imprison,
Nor to lose one's self in another.
Love is to join and separate,
    To walk alone and together,
    To find a laughing freedom
That lonely isolation does not permit.
It is finally to be able
To be who we really are
No longer clinging in childish dependency
Nor docilely living separate lives in silence,
It is to be perfectly one's self
And perfectly joined in permanent commitment
To another–and to one's inner self.
Love only endures when it moves like waves,
Receding and returning gently or passionately,
Or moving lovingly like the tide
In the moon's own predictable harmony,
Because finally, despite a child's scars
    Or an adult's deepest wounds,
They are openly free to be
Who they really are–and always secretly were,
In the very core of their being
Where true and lasting love can alone abide.

    What do you think???

    fear and loathing
I watched "Gonzo" yesterday, and it was really good, but depressing too. Hunter S. Thompson was a complete wacko, but an awesome man and a crazy character.

I've been having a lot of anxiety lately, which is annoying because I can't pinpoint exactly why and how to stop it. I think its just that I have a lot to do in the coming months, and I'm not getting enough done at work or home to stay on top of it all. I keep on having this sinking feeling that something really bad is going to happen, but I don't know what.

Edit: maybe part of the problem is I haven't been exercising for a week. I worked out this morning, and I am feeling better. I also got a few things take care of before heading to work, like getting my wireless bill adjusted and getting my pants hemmed for the suit I'm going to wear for my sis's wedding (its a dark grey pinstripe suit) :).

    Woo
I went white water river rafting and camping this weekend for my brother-in-law to be's bachelor party. Holy crap I want to do that again, it was awesome! We went down the Skykomish river (youtube skykomish river boulder drop and you'll see some people flip on the rapids we went down...we didn't flip but other boats in our group did). After rafting we all got wasted at a camp site. I was really tired, so when I got drunk I ended up falling asleep pretty quickly... curled up next to a curb lol.

    Now back to work :P

    Hilarious
You have to see Steve Porter's Youtube remix of an infomercial:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWRyj5cHIQA

Its freaking hilarious, and safe for work (well, maybe... he does say "you're going to love my nuts" at one point i think) and will probably put a smile on your face.

    With what money?
I hate it when people assume you can just spend money on something that you can't. Not everyone is working at a job that gives them plenty of disposable cash.

    Everyone has different priorities.

Still looking for a marraige reading...
for my sisters wedding but can't find anything. Its either too religious or too far out there that too many of relatives would be annoyed with me... Anyone got ideas?
